Jenson Button Reveals Ricciardo Has ‘Made Peace’ with Red Bull Exit
Jenson Button, the 2009 F1 World Champion, has shared that Daniel Ricciardo has “made peace” with Red Bull’s decision to replace him with Liam Lawson for the remainder of the 2024 season. Ricciardo, who joined Red Bull’s sister team VCARB (formerly AlphaTauri) earlier this year, was sidelined following the Singapore Grand Prix. Lawson, a promising New Zealand talent and Red Bull reserve driver, was given the final six races to prove his potential for a seat on the 2025 F1 grid.
Ricciardo’s exit marks the ninth time a mid-season driver change has occurred within Red Bull’s teams. The decision allows Red Bull to evaluate Lawson’s performance, as his contract reportedly includes an option to seek opportunities outside Red Bull if not offered a spot for 2025.
With this strategic move, Red Bull continues to utilize its driver pool, selecting from its development team to optimize future line-ups.
