  • Knicks Fans Already Frustrated After Opening Night Loss to Celtics, Question Mikal Bridges’ Fit

The New York Knicks’ fanbase wasted no time showing their frustrations after an underwhelming opening night performance against the Boston Celtics. Despite entering the season with heightened expectations following the acquisitions of stars Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges, the Knicks were thoroughly outplayed in a 132-109 loss to the defending champions at TD Garden.

Boston, fresh off their championship triumph, looked every bit like a title contender, and the Knicks simply couldn’t keep up. As the Celtics celebrated by raising another championship banner, they sent a clear message with their dominant display. Meanwhile, the Knicks found themselves struggling on both ends of the court, leaving their fans with a sour taste after months of anticipation.

One of the main targets of fan ire after the loss was Mikal Bridges, one of New York’s prized offseason additions. Expected to bring dynamic two-way play and sharpshooting, Bridges had a rough night from beyond the arc, shooting just 2-for-7 from three-point range. His lackluster debut led to a flurry of complaints on social media, with some fans already questioning his fit on the roster and speculating about possible trades. While it may be an overreaction after just one game, the early discontent is a clear sign of the sky-high expectations surrounding the team this season.

On the other hand, Karl-Anthony Towns had flashes of brilliance but wasn’t enough to stem the tide against a well-oiled Celtics machine. The loss was a humbling reminder that while the Knicks may have bolstered their roster, they still have a long way to go if they hope to challenge teams like Boston for Eastern Conference supremacy.
