Martin Brundle calls for change in rules after Max Verstappen and Lando Norris incidence

The United States Grand Prix delivered a dramatic chapter in the ongoing battle for the Constructors’ Championship, marked by a contentious penalty handed to Lando Norris for an overtaking maneuver against Max Verstappen. Sky Sports F1 commentator Martin Brundle highlighted the overshadowing effects of this incident amid the fierce rivalry between the two drivers.

Leclerc’s victory at Monza, following a strong recent performance after narrowly missing wins in Baku and underperforming in Singapore, has positioned Ferrari as a key player. With just 48 points separating McLaren, Red Bull, and Ferrari as they head to Mexico, the championship race promises to be both exciting and tense.

Verstappen, who claimed pole in the Sprint race, demonstrated his speed, securing his first win since June. However, the Sprint revealed Ferrari’s impressive pace, as Leclerc showcased a car that was lighter on tires, foreshadowing a strong race day. The revised Sprint format, offering engaging racing and reducing practice time, allowed teams only a single session to optimize their setups on the newly resurfaced track.

During the main race, Norris started from pole but faced immediate pressure from Verstappen. Both drivers ran wide at the first corner, but the incident was deemed acceptable by the stewards, allowing Leclerc to take advantage and establish an unassailable lead. Carlos Sainz, starting third, was caught behind the battling duo but maintained his position.

Lewis Hamilton’s race ended prematurely after a spin from 17th place, marking a rare retirement for the seasoned driver. Despite recovering from his starting position, he became the only driver to retire, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the race.
